On the flip side, personalized ingredient kits are a double-edged sword, aren’t they? For beginners, they’re a godsend. My first kit made me feel like a wizard!
It takes away a lot of the initial “overwhelming” feeling of ingredient selection, giving you a curated, pre-measured experience. You just dump and brew.
But as you progress, you might feel a bit constrained. I tend to use them now as a jumping-off point, maybe swapping out a hop variety or tweaking the yeast to make it my own.
So, do they help navigate the overwhelm? Absolutely, for entry and convenience. But for the serious experimenter, they become a foundation to build upon rather than the end-all-be-all.
